Ever since my baby born, I have a completely different feeling when someone tells me that their child is very sick. I now think, "What if that was my family?" There are few things worse than your child being very sick and not being able to do much about it. Just imagine if your baby had cancer?
That was the reality for Alexander Scott and her family. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
To find a cure for cancer, Alex's Lemonade will be going the distance! One million miles to be exact. They can't do this without your help! During the month of September, which just so happens to be Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Alex's Lemonade stand is holding the Million Mile Run.
What are they striving for:
- 10,000 teams or individuals x 100 miles = 1 millions miles
- Pledges/mile x 1 million miles = Millions of dollars for kids with cancer.
- Although signing up is free, they do ask that each individual or team try to obtain pledges per mile or donations to support their team. If everyone received $10/mile...they would raise $10 million for pediatric cancer research in just one month!
